Pretty (Manly) in Pink

Meet Scruffy, the former Mexican street dog, whom I am now watching over in gorgeous Naples, FL.

Scruffy makes me think of a line from the theme song of that old 1970s TV show, The Jeffersons: "Moving on up to a deluxe apartment in the sky-y-y-y." He's come a long way, baby, since running with his pack of starving wild dogs in the La Paz marina.

About that fluffy pink thing he's wearing, don't think for a minute he usually dresses that way! Once a manly dog, always a manly dog. Here's the scoop: Scruffy is very tolerant, so he generously let his human dress him up for Valentine's Day (for about a minute and a half).

When it comes to his stroller, though, what you see is what you get. He's manly enough to handle that, too. Fortunately, he's also colorblind. Scruffy needs that stroller because he's old now, and he lives on the 12th floor. You get the picture.... And folks wonder where I find ideas for the Whiskey Mattimoe books?
